Improved treatment for schizophrenia

Improved treatment for schizophrenia

The scope of the platform is to create the basis for discovery of next generation drugs to treat and prevent schizophrenia and severe, psychiatric disorders

About the platform

The platform builds on the discovery of chromosomal abnormalities leading to development of severe mental disorders.

The discovery allows the development of next generation drugs directed against the causes of the disorders and is expected to dramatically change treatment efficacy and possibly lead to disease prevention.

The platform has successfully developed cellular model systems that allow examination of the neuro-biological alterations caused by chromosomal alterations that lead to severe mental illness. The parties have identified novel chromosomal abnormalities in severe mental disorders and will use this insight to advance the screening based cellular model systems for identification of next generation drugs.

The three parties have used the HTF collaboration to establish new international collaborations by mutually exploiting the existing networks of the other partners and are currently discussing how to expand the current project.
