Focus on strong project management
For all projects it is crucial that all parties should 'want' to engage in research and innovation. More than anything else, success depends on a dedicated project manager, who will invest time and effort in making the project run smoothly. Add to this a competent steering committee that will act as a responsible project board.

Since its start five years ago the Foundation has gained many successful experiences on what constitutes the framework of a good project. Not surprisingly there is no simple Handbook for success, but some experiences may be shared across the Foundation's by now quite extensive portfolio of more than 100 projects and platforms.

Guide on project management
As a tool for strong project management we are encouraging all projects and platforms to download and read the paper "On project management and active follow-up", which describes the Foundation’s expectations to the steering committee, its members, and the project manager as well as the Foundation’s role in the active follow-up. As appendix, guideline templates are given for the documents to be prepared for the steering committee meetings.
